WISDOM
offering a weekly positive perspective

December
9, 2004
Life
is full of surprises and there are no guarantees, but one
thing is certain: A life without pleasure, beauty, and a
sensible degree of self-indulgence is a sad and wasted
one.
- Michael Flocker
Michael
Flocker describes himself as one of a new breed of
"lifestyle guru". He is an American, a New Yorker,
a
features editor for AOL/Time Warner, and the author of The Hedonism Handbook: Mastering the
Lost Arts of Leisure and Pleasure. "Lying
on a couch watching television with chips on your belly is
numbing rather than pleasurable. Nor am I into working for
51 weeks and then going on a bender. My hedonism is about
setting aside a little time each day to cultivate true
pleasure," states Michael.
Something
to think about as you begin the design of your life for the
coming year. (And YES, I feel this week's quote is in
alignment with last week's.)
Sincerely,
