'Skip' Rizzo (1954 - )
Albert
"Skip" Rizzo received his Ph.D. in Clinical
Psychology from the State University of New York at
Binghamton. Dr. Rizzo is the director of the IMSC
Virtual Environments Lab, which conducts research on the
design, development and evaluation of Virtual Reality
systems targeting the assessment and rehabilitation of
spatial abilities, attention, and other cognitive functions.

He
has joint faculty appointments with the University of
Southern California Integrated Media Systems Center (IMSC)
and the USC School of Gerontology. Prior to joining
USC in 1995, Dr. Rizzo worked for 8 years as a clinical
psychologist within a brain injury rehabilitation program
and in private practice. Additionally, he is
conducting research on computerized facial recognition,
facial avatar animation, VR applications that use 360 Degree
Panoramic video, VR pain distraction application testing and
is involved in designing 3D User interfaces.

He
recently delivered keynote addresses on: Virtual Reality
and Disability: Emergence
and Challenge and Visual Environments for the
Assessment of Attention and Memory Processes: Results from
the Virtual Classroom and Office at Haifa
University, Israel and The 4th International Conference
on Disability, Virtual Reality and Associated Technology in Veszprem,
Hungary respectively.
