General
Information for Boat Trip
One
and Two Day Scuba Program
Where:
The boat is the dive boat Cee Ray. Take any Freeway
that brings you to the 710 Freeway South. Take the 710
S towards Port of Long Beach/Queen Mary/Terminal Island.
Take the Pico Ave exit towards Piers C D E. Bear right
off the Freeway onto Pico Avenue. The Address is 555
Pico Avenue, Long Beach. It is located just past the
first lighted intersection in the same parking area as
Queen’s Warf Restaurant. We will arrive and meet you
at the top of the boat ramp at 6:00 am for one day boat
trip.
We
will arrive and meet you at the top of the boat ramp at
7:00p.m the night before for the two day boat trip.
There will be no food preparation until the next morning for
the two day trip. Please eat dinner before arriving at
the boat. Please to not go down to the boat until the
Dive Staff arrives.
Bring
in your Dry Gear: As space is always a premium on
a boat, be sure to pack as light as possible. Never
bring hard suitcases onto the boat. The boat provides
blankets and pillows, but no sheet for your bunk. Feel
free to bring your own sleeping bag if you wish. The
temperatures can drop, so bring warm clothing and a couple
of towels. Small personal stereos or your favorite
video are also okay. Everything else is included on
the boat. Food and beverages are included in
ample quantities, although if you are a water drinker, I
suggest you bring your own bottled water. If you
fish, bring your own rod and tackle.
Bring
in your Wet Gear: You will need a full wet suit. If you
do not have one, you may rent one from Ocean Gear. Their one
piece suits are 7 mm thick. Any gear you rent from Ocean
Gear, will be brought to the boat for you and they will get
your height, weight, etc as needed. If you do not own boots
and gloves, you will need to purchase these and in the
winter a hood is strongly advised. You may bring any gear
necessary for collecting game during season. Other
recommended equipment includes lights, compass, and camera.
Ocean Gear has a very inexpensive camera that is tested to
100 ft. All divers should bring their log books, dive
tables, and a Ziploc water-tight bag to keep them dry on the
deck. Certified divers must have their Certification
Cards.
Please
contact the shop well in advance for ordering rental gear
and equipment. Let them know your shoe size and they can
bring your boots and gloves to the boat for you to purchase.
Additionally:
It is customary to tip your boat crew for their service.
This does not go to our staff, but to the crew who made our
trip safe and enjoyable. $30 from each diver is a fair
tip for a 2-day trip. All trip locations are subject
to weather and safe diving conditions. Due to long
crossing times (1-2 hours), it is recommended that all
divers bring suitable seasickness medication in the event of
a rough crossing: Bonine and Dramamine work well;
Homeopathic remedies include ginger tea and gum. Please
remember that all boat fees are non-refundable (except in
event of trip cancellation). If you are unable to
attend for any reason, any fees paid will be forfeited.
You
will be supplied a STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING, which is
necessary to be completed and returned prior to the dive day
or before boarding the boat. Without it, you will not
be able to attend the trip and your money cannot be
refunded.
Return:
Once the boat is clear of all our equipment and belongings
we will have a short “post-trip” meeting. All
divers should be free to leave about 6:00 p.m. on our return
date. As the boat is privately chartered, return times
are approximate While clearing the boat does not
take long, all divers are expected to help in clearing the
boat and returning all dive gear.
