Innovation Adventure Program

The Oxford Company Innovation Adventure is designed to immerse you in the excitement of exploring the worlds of business innovation and the sea. The mission is to offer you authentic learning experiences that change your perspective, create fundamental paradigm shifts and steer you toward a new business horizon. The uniqueness of the Innovation Adventure lies in the relationship of scuba diving skills to the study of business solutions, innovation, perspective and leadership. As a business leader, you know that in today’s world, innovation challenges the status quo, everything you thought you knew about competition and what it takes to gain strategic advantage. Companies fight for competitive advantage, battle over market share and struggle for differentiation. Head-to-head competition only creates a sea of rivals fighting over a shrinking profit pool.

Today’s leading companies succeed not by battling competitors but by creating "blue oceans” of uncontested market space eager for business growth. Such strategic initiatives, called “value innovations,” create powerful leaps in value—for your company and your client—and unleash new demand that renders rivals ineffective.

During the Innovation Adventure, you will experience face-to-face relevant classroom learning on business innovation, change and leadership. Two certified-diving instructors will provide a comprehensive entry-level scuba diving program that uses academic and hands-on pool instruction. You will also take part in an expedition to the Aquarium of the Pacific for a private reception, dinner and backstage tour. To make your experience truly remarkable, you will participate in a diving excursion off the coast of Catalina Island, one of the top 10 dive spots in the world, concluding with a final review of the business strategies learned. 

At the Innovation Adventure, you will:

  • Discuss "value innovations" and how they apply to your business in the promotional products industry
  • Identify the top three catalysts of innovation
  • Discover a systematic approach to making the competition irrelevant
  • Explore a proven analytical framework and the tools to create and capture blue oceans eager for business growth
  • Examine the six principles that every company can use to successfully formulate and execute blue ocean strategies
  • Use the unique experiences created by unfamiliar elements of scuba diving and the underwater world to discover how to apply innovation principles and strategies and create your own blue oceans of uncontested market space
